On the Home Stretch

We are on day 9 of our final trip here in Russia and words cannot express how eager we are to get home. While we have enjoyed our alone time with B, we are exhausted and home sick. We miss our family, friends and precious Camo.
The weather here is crazy. Ice on top of snow and snow on top of ice. The airport here in Moscow was completely shut down yesterday causing much chaos for travelers. It took one family coming to adopt over and hour and a half to get inside the airport once they landed. We pray everything is ok Thursday for us to depart.
Bradyn has been such a sweet little guy and a terror all wrapped into one. He is a fabulous eater and sleeper. We put him down around 9pm and he sleeps all night until 8-8:30am the next morning. He is down to only 1 nap a day, usually and hour and a half to 2 hours is the norm. We nap when he naps so that we can keep up with him while he is awake. Getting him to sleep is a challenge. He is a fighter, but we love every minute of our time with him. He is definitely our precious angel sent from above. He can't sit still for more than a couple minutes at a time. Even while we are holding him he is moving constantly. Hopefully, the flight back home won't be too horribly bad. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Please continue to pray for a safe flight back home and that B doesn't throw to many fits during the ride.
With much love,
Scott and Mel

Our Gotcha Day and 1st Night Together

The day has finally arrived and we are ready to pick up our little guy. Nadya, our translator, called us around 9:15 Tuesday morning to tell us to be ready at 9:50. Wow, not much time. We jump out of bed and get everything ready for our pick up. Its pretty much a blur once we start our adventure to the different offices to sign paperwork. We just went with the flow. We finally arrive at the baby house around 11-ish. We take the gifts to the proper people then off to his room to change his clothes and get him ready. His clothes swallowed him whole. We couldn't find him once his coat was on. So funny! The ride back to the hotel went well. He is such a great baby. Once we are back we played for a while, talked to the family, then took a short nap. We have quickly found out that he is an eater. He loves sweet potatoes and yogurt. It was bath time around 8 and this little guy is an olympic swimmer in the tub. Back and fourth over and over again. It was hilarious. After his bath he had a little bit of cereal then off to bed. Daddy got him right to sleep. He slept for about an hour then woke up screaming. I think he was scared. It took a little while to get him back out, but after he finally gave up he slept until 8am this morning. Thank goodness for the pacifier. We were super excited to get a some needed rest. He had cereal and pear baby food for breakfast and loved it. We are just hanging out in the hotel now playing with our sweet little guy.
We will leave tomorrow around 2 to pick up his passport then head to Moscow for the remainder of our trip. We are glad to be together, but can't wait to be home. See you all very soon.
With love,
Scott and Mel

One night left

We are on our last night without B. Tomorrow is our gotcha day! We cannot wait to enter the baby home and leave with our little man in hand. No more visits then leaving him behind. While our stay here in Russia has been an experience that we will never forget, we are ready to be back in the US with our family. Please continue to pray for our last plane ride home. We have been blessed beyond words.

A successful day in Kaluga court

Today was our court date and needless to say I was a nervous wreck. It was not bad after all. The judge was very nice and we were only there for 90 minutes. Most of the questions were geared toward the social worker, director of the baby home and the Dr. Scott and I spent about 10 mins. a piece answering questions. The judge left for about 10 minutes then returned with her verdict. We were approved! This was such a relief. We can't say enough about our experience in Kaluga. Everyone has bent over backwards to accommodate us. The baby home was exceptional as well. Almost like a daycare. We are extremely excited to be returning home to wait out our 10 days to return and pick up our little peanut. We are blessed beyond words. God is good all the time. This is our first official posted pictures of B...please enjoy!

2nd trip visits to see B

Our 1st visit this morning went pretty well. B was a little fussy, but we were still able to play together. The 2nd visit not so much. I don't think he felt well and he was very fussy. He kept tugging at his ears and sucking on my arm so I am going to assume he is teething. We had to hold him the entire visit. No time for playtime. Hopefully, he will feel better tomorrow evening for our last visit this trip. He hasn't changed too much. He still only has 2 teeth and is not yet walking. We think his eyes are green, but sometimes they still look blue. He has a little more hair and a one small curl in the back. He is so cute I can't stand it. I hate that we are not there to hold him when he doesn't feel well, but just a couple more weeks and he will be home safe and sound with us. Court tomorrow at 2:30...keep us in your prayers.

Back in Russia

We made it to Kaluga around 5pm Sunday 12/5 (that's 8am central US time). It's definitely different weather that it was in late September, 18 degrees to be exact. There is snow on the ground, but it's not supposed to snow anymore this week. This is good news because we do not want to get stuck here. We are not in the hotel we wanted, but it's ok we will live. Once we got checked in and put our stuff in the room, we walked about a mile to McDonald's for dinner.
We have our first visit at 1pm tomorrow then again at 6pm. We can't wait to see how much B has changed in 9 weeks. I'm sure he has a little more hair and probably a couple more teeth. I'm ready to squeeze those sweet little cheeks! We haven't been told what time we will be in court on Tuesday, but I'm sure they will tell us tomorrow. We are ready to get this part over and make this adoption official! Please thank God for letting us get here safe and sound and continue to pray for us while we are here.
